Event Day(s):
Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July, 10:00-16:00, Kirkby Stephen East station
The Stainmore Railway Company and Kirkby Stephen East station have been an important part of our Westmorland Dales celebrations since the very beginning, and we are delighted that once again the historic station and steam railway will be open for the full Festival weekend.
Built in 1861, the station served the community here for 100 years, and has been lovingly restored by volunteers from the Stainmore Railway Company. You’ll be able to explore the glamorous 1930s buffet car, museum and gift shop; and maybe have a ride with a vintage locomotive. There’ll be a range of rolling stock at various stages of restoration and repair on site - as well as activities for young children.
The station will be open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July, and transport will be available from Kirkby Stephen town centre. Timetable here
Entrance is free but please note a charge will apply to train rides.
